Are you searching for ways to make a phone sticker at home? Here is the in-depth tutorial on how to make a sticker that will blow your friends and family.
First of all, let's talk about two of the things we use to create stickers at Cricut Design Space, the pre-cut printing tool and the offset tool.
how to make a phone case sticker at home in 6 simple steps
1- The cutting and printing material.
The Cricut machine is great for cutting our materials like cardstock, HTV, and vinyl, but you can also use it to cut printed materials. It is perfect for any phone sticker.
Print before the cut is a feature that allows you to cut around the material you have printed on the printer. This is the material we're going to use to make phone stickers today. It's also great for other things like making labels, gift tags and even making HTV or printable vinyl.
Another tool that makes phone case sticker making extremely easy is the new Offset tool. The Offset tool adds an outline or "shadow" around the image. This new outline is a new layer. For the "print, then crop" function, we will align the image and offset it into a print layer, then crop it.
2- Get a cute image set Cricut Design Space
In the Cricut Design Space, select Insert Image. I used the "Rise and Shine Sunshine" image set by Jasminina in Design Space to create these stickers.
You can insert as many images as you like to make the stickers, but first I'll insert just one and show you how to use the offset tool.
Once you have selected an image that will fit on your phone case sticker, you can click on the offset tool in the top menu. You can drag the circle to the left or right to increase or decrease the offset, or you can type in the exact size of offset you want. Watch this video that will show you how you can create a journal to sell on amazon kdp for free.
You'll see a blue outline around the image that shrinks or expands as you drag the circle to the left or right.
3- The major error to avoid
You'll notice that there are two options for the corners: round or angled. For stickers, I use the rounded corners option. The Angular option is great for angular objects that you want to track. For example, if I'm cropping a square image, I want the offset to be angular and not rounded.
Note: In the image above, I changed the way I cropped the image after inserting it, by printing it first and then cropping it. Since this is a single layer image, you won't see the other options in the offset tool Weld If your image has multiple layers, the Weld option will automatically be marked, but you can leave it unmarked and create an offset layer for each individual layer.
After applying the offset, there are now two layers: the layer with the original image and the layer with the offset. The offset layer is automatically set to black. Select the layer and change it to white by clicking on the box in the top menu and selecting White.
4- More tips with offset layer in black machine
Tip Sometimes, but not always, depending on the shape of the image and the size of the offset, there will be small holes in the offset layer. The Cricut machine will then try to cut these small holes in the decal, which we do not want! You can see the small holes in the offset sticker layer below after the top layer has been offset.
To fix this, you need to make sure your image is set to Crop Image in the Actions menu, and then select the Contour tool in the lower right corner. The Contour Lines screen will appear.
After removing the contour lines, select the offset layer and the image. Use the Align tool in the top menu and select the center.
Now, using the Tile tool in the lower right corner, merge the Offset and Sun layers into one layer with a printable image. Align the offset and the image in the Cricut Design Space to print the paper cutout.
You now have an image to cut out as a sticker. Resize if necessary and insert other images from the Jasmine Lucey image set the add an offset to the image.
Repeat the same steps to add an offset layer and flatten it. Make sure there are no small holes in your offset layer; if there are, use the outline tool to hide them.
5- Choosing the right design for your phone case sticker
Once you have finished all the stickers, you can print them out first, then cut them out. It is not so easy to choose the perfect design for your phone case sticker because you see it beautiful right now.
The size of the stamp before cutting is limited: to maximize the number of stickers you cut, click on Insert Shape in the left-hand menu and insert a square. Click on the small padlock in the size menu if you want to cut out a square.
After clicking the Print button, the following screen appears Remember to turn off the blur. In this case, we are adding a scroll layer, so there is no need to turn on blur.
Make sure the Use System Dialog button is enabled. For best printing results, always use the System Print dialog. Select Print. This will bring up the System dialog box. You may need to fold the design section to see it, as it is usually displayed in the back. It is also possible to make those phone case sticker packs by using a well-done design not too popular on the net.
6- how to Double check the paper quality
Uncheck Clear, then Print and Clear in the System dialog. Different printers offer different options. For best printing results, select the highest quality option, then the paper type. Next, print the sticker. Select the best quality and paper type and after the sticker is printed, it is applied to a common suction pad. It is then inserted into the machine. Jasmina phone case stickers are applied to Cricut Standard Grip backing paper.
For glossy neat labels, we use printed stickers (clear) with a higher cutting pressure. This allows for full-length cutting. If you want to cut stickers only, i.e., stickers only and no background material, you will need to play with the material settings to try cutting.
Remember that all material settings in Design Space are based on the Cricut material. So if you choose something other than Cricut for the phone case stickers you want to print, the cut will be different.
